SELKIRK – Ruth B.
Traeger, born March 10, 1919, in Syracuse, NY to Charles and Rosina
Weidman, died peacefully at home November 16, 2008. She was
predeceased by husband George A. (Gus) Traeger; brothers, C.
Edward, Robert, and James Weidman; sisters, Evelyn Pearl Weidman,
Grace Schraver, and Louise Rolfe; survived by children, Gloria
(Kenneth) Bater, Churchville, NY, G. Edward (Cheryl) Traeger, Feura
Bush, NY, August March, Ravena, NY, Virginia (Anthony) Sellars,
Selkirk, NY, Mark (Ludmill’a) Traeger, Rosedale, MD; sister Doris
Turner, Catskill, NY; many grandchildren, great and great-great
grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ruth had been a
hairdresser for many years in the Ravena area operating her own shop
out of her home. For 16 ˝ yrs. She drove school bus for the R-C-S
Central School Dist. retiring in 1981. During her retirement she
did supplemental office work for the NYS Probation Dept. through the
Green Thumb Program.
Ruth was an
active member of the 1st Reformed Church of Bethlehem, Selkirk, NY
for 60 years. She served the church in many positions through the
years as Sunday school teacher, choir member, member of the
consistory and women’s guild. Throughout her adult life she was also
an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Ravena, Delmar,
and most recently in the VanRensselaer Star Chapter #256 of East
Greenbush.
Family and
friends may call at the 1st Reformed Church of Bethlehem, Route 9W,
Selkirk, NY, November 20th from 4 to 7 P.M. Her funeral service
will be held Friday, November 21st, 10A.M. at the church.
Internment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be
directed to the Renovation Fund, 1st Reformed Church of Bethlehem,
Selkirk, NY, or to Senior Projects of Ravena (Meals on Wheels) PO
Box 142, Ravena, NY 12143.
