SELKIRK – James E. Malphrus, 81, passed away Tuesday December 16, 2008. James was born in Ridgeland, S.C. son of the late James and Armenta Malphrus. He owned and operated J & A Motors of Selkirk with his brothers Jesse and Allard for several years before retiring.

         James was predeceased by his wife of 39 years Betty Ann Malphrus. Survivors include son, Thomas (Nancy) Malphrus; daughters, Judy (Thomas) Spadaro, Gail (Joseph) Boehlke, Pamela (Brian) Rafferty, Penny (Sean) Gager, Janie (Walter) Nowark, and Kathleen Gleason; sister, Clyde Potter; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his loving companion, Beverly Deams. James was predeceased by 2 brothers and 5 sisters.

         Funeral services will be held 11AM Thursday December 18th at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Selkirk. Friends may call at the funeral home prior to the service starting at 10AM. Contributions in memory of James may be made to the American Heart Association.
