Tyler Headley “Ty”, of Winchester, VA and formerly from Chandler, AZ
and Ravena, NY passed away on March 18, 2011 in Winchester. He was
born April 3, 1927 in Albany.
Ty was married to Jacquelyn Powell Kennedy in 1949. She passed away
May 6, 2008 after 58 years of Marriage. He is survived by three
children, Joel Tyler Headley III and Wendy of Winchester, VA, Nancy
Headley Summer and Lee of Woodland Hills, CA, Kenneth Scott Headley
and Elane of Gold Canyon, AZ; 5 grandchildren, Austin, Nicholas and
Andrew Headley, Stephanie and Shayna Summer; 2 great-granddaughters;
brother Chan Headley; and two nephews. He was the son of the late
Allston and Carol Headley.
After attending the Albany Academy and Williams College, Ty was
employed for twenty nine years by Hudson Valley Paper Co. in Albany,
NY, Budget Office Equipment in Phoenix AZ and Southwest Janitor
Supply in Tempe, AZ. He retired in 1999.
Always active in his community he was a member of Lions
International for 39 years. Prior to that, Ty was charter president
of the Ravena, NY Jaycees and held many offices including NYS Vice
President. Mr. Headley was co-founder and Charter President of the
Ravena Library, member of Ravena and Coeymans planning board, on the
board of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, and active in the Sight
Conservation Eye Bank. He was past president of the Alumni
Association and the Fathers Association of the Albany Academy where
he graduated from in 1945. He was busy in church activities being
Chairman of the Finance (8 years) and a trustee of the
Congregational Christian Church of Ravena where he was a 57-year
member. He was also a member of Opequon Presbyterian Church in
Winchester, VA. At Opequon he was on several committees. Ty was an
active shepherd and was elected Deacon in 2009. He was chosen as
Older Adult of the Year in 2010 by the congregation.
Following services in Winchester, VA a second funeral service will
be held 2 PM on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Congregational
Christian Church in Ravena, NY. Burial will follow at Chestnut Lawn
Cemetery in New Baltimore, NY.
