RAVENA –  Reid E. Griffin, 79, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2010.  Reid was born in Albany, had lived in Westerlo and Ravena.  Reid graduated from Berne Knox High School in 1947, and joined the Army in 1951. He was in the 11th Airborne Division during the Korean War until 1954.  Reid worked many years as an appliance repairman, electrician, worked and retired from Conrail in 1996.  He was a member of the Ravena Grange, enjoyed bowling, was an avid tinkerer, inventor and “collector”.

     Reid was predeceased by his wife, Naomi “Pidge” Griffin, and parents, Irving “Kelly” Griffin, and Lucille Stott Brink.

Survivors include his children, Brent Griffin, Jill (Kim Lucey) Griffin, Kelly (Ron) Racey, and Tracey (David) Hurst;  step mother, Iva Griffin;  brothers, Donnie (Ruth) Griffin, and Keith Pebler;  and grandchildren, Sophie, Griffin, Shane, Alexander, and Thomas.

     Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, August 17th at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena.  Burial will follow in Chestnut Lawn Cemetery, New Baltimore.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to7 PM.  Contributions in memory of Reid may be made to the Ravena Grange, 1363 SR 143, Coeymans Hollow, NY 12046.
