Bleezarde,
Richard G. GLENMONT Richard G. Bleezarde, 56, peacefully entered
eternal life Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at the Hospice Inn in St.
Peter's Hospital. Richard was raised in Ravena the son of George and
Beatrice Bleezarde. He was the publisher/-owner of the Ravena
News-Herald, Greenville Local, Coxsackie-Athens Courier and the
Mid-Hudson Valley Health. Dick was a member of the NY Press
Association and currently served as a district director for the
Hudson Valley Region. As a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Dick
attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a 1970 graduate of
Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School and, in 1974, graduated from
Rochester Institute of Technology. Dick was a former member and past
president of the Greater Ravena Lions Club. He was a member of the
Congregational Christian Church and served on the board of deacons
and finance committee and chaired various fundraisers. Dick enjoyed
bowling, golf, NY Yankees, NY Giants and coached his daughter's
basketball team. He loved gardening and had a passion for
photography but, most of all, he loved his family. Survivors include
his wife, Debra A. Johns Bleezarde; daughter, Lauren E. Bleezarde,
both of Glenmont; sisters, Joanne (Tom) Vilaghy of Philmont and
Linda (Richard) Carpenter of N.J.; mother-in-law, Fran Johns;
sisters-in-law, Michele and Donna; and brother-in-law, Jim; also
survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Dick was
predeceased by his father-in-law, James Johns. Funeral services will
be held 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19 at the Congregational Christian
Church, Ravena. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
Friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Friday from
4 to 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of Richard may be made to the
